Knight Frank’s planning team has submitted planning to the London Legacy Development Corporation on behalf of Curlew Opportunities for a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Stratford, East London. The site – which covers 102,700 sq ft – will include two sites.

One site – known as Portland House – currently has 100 student accommodation beds. The site will be demolished and rebuilt. An adjacent site which is currently vacant and was previously used as a petrol station will also be redeveloped.

The new PBSA will include 37 shared flats – across four interlocking blocks ranging from eight to 12 storeys high. The planning proposals for the scheme will include 282 student beds.

The planning proposals also include 720 sq ft of community space – which is intended to be used by charities and organisations to serve the local people. There will also be an enhanced public realm on Stratford High Street and additional tree planting.
