Blackpool based specialists in high volume accommodation – Create Construction – has received planning for the second phase of their Discovery Quays project for Bricks Capital, a privately-owned property group specialising in development, management and investment – operating across hotel, student and coliving sectors.
Create Construction has teamed up with Bricks Capital for the third time to build the PBSA under their ‘true’ student brand – which already operates over 3,500 beds across the UK.
“Our partnership with Bricks Capital is going from strength to strength, as they share the same core values of ‘Integrity’ ‘collaborative’ and ‘easy to do business with’. We are looking forward to another successful partnership in the delivery of this next phase of our Discovery Quays project in Salford, an important part of the exciting regeneration of the city.”
Paul Mathison, CEO, Create Construction
Discovery Quay, the first phase of the development has a contract value of around £27m. It was ready to welcome guests last month. The second phase – with a construction value over £31m – will provide 457 ‘true’ student beds, lounge spaces and extra communal spaces – and double the facility’s footprint with an additional 14,200m2 of living space.
Amenities include a coffee shop, fully-equipped gym, lounge, library, media and gaming area, and a double-story Festival Zone with the famous ‘true slide’.
“The expansion of our true development at Salford Quays marks another major step in establishing the brand as a major player in the PBSA management arena and we’re delighted to be working with Create once more in delivering this exciting project.”
Peter Prickett, Group CEO, Bricks Capital
The 15-storey PBSA building will have a basket weave façade and eye-catching coloured panels – which complements phase one. Works are due to start on site in Q3 2020 and is expected to complete in Q3 2022 – ready for students studying at Salford and Manchester Universities and other Higher Education institutions in the area to move in.
The PBSA development is close to Media City and The Lowry Centre at Salford Quays, and has easy tram access to Manchester City Centre.
