Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) provider – Future Generation by Southern Grove – is breaking the mould with its luxury developments and its latest site – Guilden Village – in Guildford, set to officially open on 12 August 2021.

The company has made the opening of the £100m development official with the release of a video that follows the site’s progression – and will be hosting a VIP launch event to coincide with the site’s opening on the evening of 12 August 2021.

Southern Grove first broke ground on the development, which was originally known as Guildford College, in 2018. In August 2020, the company announced that the scheme remained on track despite Covid-19. Three years later, the building is now ready and waiting to greet its new tenants in time for the new academic year.

“We’re thrilled to now be at a point where we’ll shortly be welcoming students into Guilden Village. The site is looking incredible and it will be the perfect place for students to see out their university tenure.

“The attention to detail is phenomenal and everything in the building is next level.

“Students spend only 10% of their time on campus, so it was important to us that we focussed on delivering a range of exciting communal spaces where they’re able to form communities and friendships, as well as enjoy luxurious personal spaces.

“Students are very discerning customers and we’ve gone above and beyond to turn our student accommodation into a destination brand. We’re delighted with the results.”

The Guildford development – with views over Stoke Park – has been described as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Britain’s booming PBSA sector – and topped out in October 2020. With 533 student rooms, Guilden Village includes Samsung smart TVs and antibacterial air-conditioning in every room. Amenities include a state of the art Morsia gym from renowned fitness vlogger Matt Morsia (AKA MattDoesFitness), a cinema room, a fleet of bicycles for students to borrow, 1GBps broadband, 24-hour security, study rooms and off-street parking.

Guilden Village occupies a prime position and is a short walk from the University of Surrey.

“[The University of Surrey] has for a long time experienced a crisis in the provision of student housing in Guildford. Typically, in the UK there are three students for every available bed, so there’s a fundamental need for student accommodation in Guildford.”

“As well as the supply and demand issue, rents in the private sector are among the highest in the country – students in Guildford are in need of good accommodation and that’s what we’ve delivered – the quality and finish of Guilden Village is second to none.”

Despite its high-end look and feel, accommodation at Guilden Village is priced from £169 with luxury en-suite rooms.
