Tricas Construction has completed the first phase of Volume Works, a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Birmingham for clients Volume Property. The £6m student scheme is in the Gun Quarter of central Birmingham, which serves students at city centre campuses such as Aston and Birmingham City universities.
The Volume Works scheme includes 48 studio apartments with a residents’ lounge. Designed as hotel-style apartments, each apartment includes video-secure entry, air-conditioned rooms, smart TVs, king-size beds and double showers.
“The Volume Works scheme provides Birmingham-based students with a boutique residence that is more akin to a hotel.
“We want our residents to feel safe, welcome and inspired by their new location. The cohesive and collaborative effort of Volume Property and Tricas has produced 48 luxury apartments that has delivered our ethos of lifetime living.”
Anthony Laville, Director, Volume Property

Considering sustainability and the environment, Volume Works also benefits from solar control glass and air conditioning with heating and comfort cooling. These provide a more energy efficient method for heating than traditional electric-powered storage heaters commonly found in high-rise developments.
Now the first phase of Volume Works has completed, Tricas Construction will start works on the second phase of the scheme in Q4 of 2021.
“Tricas drew on its extensive depth of knowledge across the business and its suppliers to construct these state-of-the-art apartments in the heart of Birmingham.
“Following the success of phase one of this project, phase two will commence imminently to build a further 107 apartments of a similarly high calibre. With our experienced supply chain, we have years of combined experience to complete projects such as these.”
