Specialist internet provider in the purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) sector – ASK4 – announces a new partnership with Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity, in support of their University Mental Health Charter Programme. Student Minds empower students and members of the university community to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support others and create change.

The Charter Programme brings together universities committed to making mental health and wellbeing a university-wide priority, to share best practice and create cultural change. Universities on the Programme form part of a UK-wide practice sharing network, with access to events and opportunities to come together to improve their approach to student and staff mental health. ASK4 will be sponsoring these events in 2022.

“We’re pleased to be supporting another Student Minds project. Mental health is an incredibly important topic, the more support that is available can help make a student’s time at university more manageable and enjoyable. We wish the team every success and look forward to hearing about the magnificent work they have achieved.”

Natalie Williamson, Marketing and Events Manager, ASK4

University life can be challenging, and many students are not prepared mentally or emotionally for this new way of life. This can result in them feeling anxious and struggling to cope. In recent years, the number of students seeking professional support has significantly increased. Even prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the prevalence and complexity of mental health difficulties in students was on the rise. Both ASK4 and Student Minds hope this latest initiative will help many universities and their students.

“We’re delighted for the ongoing support from ASK4, this funding has helped us continue to provide a framework for universities to benefit from a well-rounded programme. We’re thrilled to see our growing community of universities are committed to improving staff and student mental health and wellbeing, by joining the Student Minds Charter Programme.”

Last year (2021), ASK4 released its free Gaming for Good report which explored the impact of gaming on students. The report identifies the many benefits that gaming offers in terms of entertainment and improved mental health, wellbeing and personal development. ASK4 also ran a FIFA tournament for students in several client sites. The aim was to deliver some of these benefits and to create a gaming community within the ASK4 customer-base.
