Carter Jonas’ Build to Rent team has been appointed to deliver lettings and property management services at Old Bakery Yard – a purpose-built student accommodation scheme (PBSA) in Twerton, Bath, on behalf of MCP Bath Ltd.
MCP Bath is part of an independent group of property companies with a proven track record of delivering award-winning, complex regeneration schemes. The group concentrates on mixed-use, leisure, residential and retail developments, usually on brownfield sites in the West Country and Wales, with a particular focus on Bristol and Bath.
Located on the historic site at Jews Lane, construction began on the group’s Old Bakery Yard development in October 2021. Once complete, the scheme will incorporate two new buildings – one a PBSA scheme which will include 63 student beds and the other offering 5,000 sq ft of flexible open-plan employment space.
“We are very excited to be delivering high-quality student accommodation in a highly sustainable location which is well connected via public transport to the universities and the city centre. The accommodation includes next generation broadband connectivity, laundry and postal management systems, which will give the students a first-class experience in beautifully designed apartments.”Ross Chester of MCP Bath
Led by Lee Richards, Carter Jonas’ Build to Rent offer specialises in providing consultancy and lettings and management services on large portfolios owned by estates, trusts, investment funds, charities, pension funds and developers. This new instruction is part of the company’s long-term involvement with Old Bakery Yard, having advised on the scheme’s design, operational management and feasibility. Lettings and management services will be supported by Carter Jonas’ Bath team, including award-winning Head of Lettings, Sharon Hunter.
“Our in-house team of professionals provide advice and services across the entire life cycle of Build to Rent and PRS schemes. Because of this, it is great to be continuing our longstanding association with Old Bakery Yard by further providing leasing and management support on site.
“Being Bath-born and raised, I remember the Old Bakery from my childhood. I feel incredibly lucky to be working with our client as they unlock its potential to deliver much needed, high-quality student accommodation as part of this exciting mixed-use scheme. I look forward to working with Sharon and the rest of our team over the coming months as we prepare to welcome students to their new home in August, and to see Old Bakery Yard once again become part of this thriving community.”Lee Richards, Head of BTR and PRS, Carter Jonas
