The Net-Zero Student Living event is being organised by Global Student Living (GSL) in London on 20 October, and the PBSA News team will be on-hand to cover the event as Media Partners.
Around 300 investors, developers, operators, and suppliers are gathering to explore the issues arising from the drive to achieve net-zero in new developments by 2030, and in all purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) buildings by 2050.
The conference is being chaired by respected PBSA veteran John Kenny, now at Realstar | UNCLE, and will feature presentations and panel sessions addressing key aspects of the transition to net-zero – including modular construction and retrofit strategies, as well as the role of smart-buildings and student behavioural change.
At the conclusion of the conference, attendees will gather for a drinks reception to celebrate the winners of the Global Student Living Awards. The awards are based on direct feedback gathered by Global Student Living from over 65,000 students around the UK & Europe during 2022. Across the 14 awards categories, 49 different universities and PBSA brands are represented as finalists.
“We’re very excited to be bringing together the UK & Europe’s leading PBSA market players for this important event – to celebrate our successes, but also commit to further progress. We all know the challenge we face as an industry to meet our climate obligations, and time is short. Many investors, developers and operators have made strong commitments to meeting sustainability goals and it’s vital that we continue to meet regularly to share knowledge, develop strategies and forge new partnerships.”
Tim Daplyn, CEO, Global Student Living
In addition to the main conference programme, an invitation-only Investor Summit is taking place to review recent market transactions, create new opportunities for partnership, and share views on the outlook for PBSA market activity across the UK and Europe. Summit Chairs include leading industry figures from CA Ventures, Patron Capital, Temprano, Apollo, Hines and others. Interested parties should email thiago@gsl.news for more information on the summit.
The event is being supported by leading connectivity brand ASK4, and the global PBSA operator Yugo. GSL have committed to managing and minimising the environmental impact of the conference in collaboration with their Climate Impact Partners, Ecologi.
