Planning permission for the scheme was recently granted to Host (part of the O’Flynn Group) by the City of Edinburgh Council and will be situated in the Golgie-Dalry area of West Edinburgh on Westfield Road.

The PBSA will feature accessible studios and cluster apartments of five, six, and eight bedrooms, with dedicated kitchen and living spaces.

Students will have access to communal amenities such as a gym, study space, and residents’ lounge, as well as a concierge and reception service.

“We are excited to bring the Host student accommodation experience to Edinburgh and provide a welcoming, well-managed and stress-free place to live for students studying at campuses such as Edinburgh Napier, University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt, all of which can be easily accessed by foot, bike and public transport from this location.”

John Nesbitt, Managing Director, Host Student Housing Ltd

The proposed development will utilise an unused site in the form of high-quality student accommodation, which will also support regeneration within the wider area. The plans also involve retaining and refurbishing a stone cottage located on-site.

To encourage active and sustainable travel, 289 cycle parking spaces will be provided where every resident can securely store their bike.

Landscaping and garden space will be accessible for students to enjoy, as well as contributing to the continued regeneration of the area that is being accelerated by other neighbouring developments, both proposed and already underway.

The scheme has also been designed to go beyond the environmental requirements of the City of Edinburgh Council and will target BREEAM Excellent.

Host, as the integrated developer and operator for the scheme, will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the new site whilst upholding standards at their previously existing sites.

Earlier in the year, Host celebrated topping out at their Bournemouth scheme with Tiger Developments and Shore Construction, alongside the appointment of their Head of Asset Management Edward Gibbon.
