Dandara Living submits plans for The Stores (formerly City Wharf), a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) and Build to Rent scheme in a prominent Glasgow regeneration area. The scheme marks Dandara’s move into the PBSA sector.
Sitting adjacent to the River Clyde to the west of the city centre in the area of Anderston, the scheme will transform a longstanding derelict site into a new mixed-use gateway.
At 27 storeys, The Stores development will deliver 491 energy efficient PBSA apartments and 503 Build to Rent apartments across three buildings. Amenities span over 8,000 sq ft and include lounges, co-working facilities, a communal kitchen, a cycle store and workshop, and two fully equipped gyms.
The development will provide a key architectural landmark and offer 360-degree views across the Glasgow city from the rooftop viewing platform and residents’ lounge.
Designs for The Stores include a public realm for Glasgow in the form of a new urban park and over 4,000 sq ft of commercial space.

Prioritising people over cars, The Stores development will include new pedestrian and cycle connections throughout the site and into adjoining routes – and will have over 870 cycle spaces.
Within a sustainable energy strategy, The Stores development is targeting BREEAM and HQM Accreditations. Significant new greenspace targets a Biodiversity Net Gain.
Students will benefit from multiple public transport options which are within walking distance of the scheme, including Anderston train station, north and south bus routes and Glasgow Central railway station.
“Following a series of public consultations we believe our new application offers a terrific opportunity to create a development that reflects its unique and highly visible location.
“It also helps address the local authority’s desire to double the number of people living in the city centre by 2035 and deliver much needed purpose built student accommodation, creating a more sustainable and vibrant city.”
