Plans for urban regeneration specialist Vita Group’s new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) concept – House of Social – has been approved by Manchester City Council, following a committee meeting yesterday. The First Street House of Social scheme is Vita’s Group’s first House of Social to receive planning approval.
“Planning approval for our first concept site on First Street marks a major landmark for the business and the sector as we move forward on this exciting new brand.”Max Bielby, Chief Operating Officer, Vita Group
House of Social is the student house re-imagined. The First Street scheme will have 100 houses with 576 student bedrooms split across a mixture of five- and six-bedrooms houses. Designed for second- and third-year students who have established friendship groups, each ‘House’ is centred around a beautiful open plan kitchen and lounge space, designed to bring housemates together with large ensuite bedrooms on either side.
Each room has been carefully designed to provide the ultimate student room – and includes a casual study space alongside a more formal desk, plenty of storage space and its own en-suite bathroom.
Residents at First Street will benefit from a range of amenities including a state-of-the-art gym and co-working space. On the ground floor, the Manchester House of Social building will be brought to life with a vibrant food hall – open to both residents and the general public. Featuring a central bar which will provide a focal point, the food hall will create approximately 400 covers, with five independent kitchens bringing forward some of the city’s most exciting new food concepts.
“Vita Group has a proven track record for creating industry leading student accommodation which raises standards within the sector, our new House of Social concept promises to do just that – re-imagining the student house.”Max Bielby, Chief Operating Officer, Vita Group
