International operator and manager of student residences and flexible accommodations in Europe – Nido Living – has launched Nido Malvarrosa – its first scheme in Valencia and its third scheme in Spain.

The 253-bed development in Valencia represents Nido’s first ‘flex living’ accommodation in the country, which is aimed especially at university students, amongst other residents.

Nido Malvarrosa is already available for booking for the 2024-2025 academic year and has been designed with the changing needs of young people in mind. The scheme aims to offer an holistic way of living, with amenities designed to encourage productivity, social interaction, and the development of community relationships.

Later in the year, Nido Living will open another new development – Nido Príncipe Pío, located opposite the homonymous shopping centre in Madrid, which officially launches in September and is already open for bookings. This scheme will deliver 636 beds and covers 24,000 sqm.

These new openings will complement Nido Living’s two operational student residences in Spain – Nido El Porvenir in Seville, with 413 beds acquired in 2021, and Nido Aravaca in Madrid, which has 501 beds and opened in 2023. By the end of this year, the operator will manage a total of four assets in the country with 1,803 beds available.

“Our presence in Spain responds to the high competitiveness of the sector and the extensive educational offerings of the country, which is already positioned as one of the preferred destinations for national and international students, especially those in the Erasmus program.

“This year, we have decided to expand our services in Spain following the success of our two student residences, as more than 96% of students say they would rebook a room at Nido Living based on their experience. These recognitions are evidence of Nido Living’s growth in Europe and specifically in Spain, where we continue to focus efforts on creating quality communities and consolidating our presence in the country.”

Student residences have become the top choice for accommodation among students in Spain. This is evidenced by the forecasts of the Special Reports Study: Student Residences from the Sectoral Observatory DBK Informa, which estimates that by the end of 2024, the number of places in student residences could reach 122,000, representing an increase of 12,000 compared to 2022.

A significant part of this growth belongs to Nido Living, who this year anticipate a 97% increase in its number of beds in Spain.
