Vita Student’s Bruce Street purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Belfast has been named ‘Student Accommodation Project of the Year’ at the Irish Building and Design Awards.

Designed by TODD Architects and constructed by McAleer & Rushe within an 18-month construction period, the 15-storey building contains 269 ensuite studio apartments. The scheme – which opened to residents in 2023 – was completed on behalf of MRP Investment & Development and operator Vita Student.

Designed with a red brick façade, the Vita Student Bruce Street building has a lower five-storey podium base upon which a further narrower ten-storey element is set back above and achieves a BREEAM Very Good rating.

The development is situated on a prominent junction just off Great Victoria Street, bounded by Little Victoria Street, Bruce Street and Holmes Street in the city centre of Belfast. The main entrance to the student building is located on Bruce Street and features 68 cycling parking spaces.
