YTL Developments has appointed specialist surveying and construction consultancy Rund on a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project comprising 1,514 student bedrooms at Brabazon, the new neighbourhood for Bristol being built by YTL Developments.
Brabazon represents one of the UK’s largest and most ambitious urban regeneration projects. The multi-billion pound brownfield site spans 380 acres and will be transformed into a new city district in North Bristol.
Rund brings substantial value and assurance as an independent certifier to large-scale developments. The company’s appointment in this crucial oversight role will help ensure the highest quality standards, compliance, and project delivery across all construction phases while providing impartial expert verification of construction quality, materials and workmanship.
The Brabazon PBSA project will deliver four eight-storey blocks (A – D), providing 1,514 student bedrooms, delivered in two phases, with Phase 1 being Blocks A and B (745 beds) and Phase 2 being Blocks C and D (769 beds).
The masterplan for Brabazon includes over 6,500 new homes and 86 acres of public squares, parks and playing fields. The 3.7 million sq ft of commercial space will support up to 30,000 jobs, while over £100m is being invested in sustainable transport infrastructure.
At its heart will be the YTL Arena Bristol – a state-of-the-art 19,500-capacity entertainment venue, repurposing the historic Hangars where Concorde was built.
